5 top ways to implement policies and procedures into your childcare setting
Implementing your policies and procedures into your childcare setting can be a difficult process. With some policies it can take time to read them all and fully understand them, also making sure that all practitioners have read and understand them can be a difficult job. As Ofsted will be asking practitioners about your policies and procedures, it is more important than ever that practitioners fully understand each and every policy.
Here are 5 top ways that can help you implement your policies and procedures
- Add a policy and procedure to the back of the toilet door; this could be branded as the policy of the month. Ensure that this is changed each month and that practitioners are quizzed on the policy during everyday practice.
- When employing, new employees make sure they are given all the necessary policies and procedures during their induction, e.g., Safeguarding policy, whistle blowing policy, health, and safety, etc.
- At the end of each practitioner workshop include a quick 5-minute quiz based on a policy and procedure. This will help refresh practitioners knowledge and keep them up to date with current legislation.
- Place a copy of your policies and procedures in your staff room for practitioners to look through and reference to
- During a supervision, ask practitioners some questions about a particular policy and procedures, this will help identify if they fully understand it.
All of the above are simple ways to ensure practitioners are kept up to date with current legislation aswell as any changes made to any policies and procedures.
