The Shadow Education Minister ‘Anglea Rayner’ talks about helping working parents in London with the rising costs of childcare
Using her experiences as a teenage mum Shadow Education Minister says “We need a childcare revolution that will help working parents across London”. The rising costs of childcare are affecting families, leaving mainly mothers taking more lower skilled jobs.
Having accessible, affordable childcare can make all the different when trying to balance work and childcare. Knowing that children are receiving high-quality care whilst being at work earning a living can give parents peace of mind, enabling them to develop their skills.
Many parents all over London are finding it financially difficult with the rising costs of childcare. A new childcare task force will enable all parents whether they are single or a couple working full time or part time or even shifts access to affordable childcare
It is labour’s task now to look more closely on the early years and try and make a huge difference in a child’s future life.
Lesley says
The issue isn’t getting parents back to work. It is about giving the Early Years sector the funding they deserve. For years we have not been given the correct funding yet we are expected to give more and more to ensure our settings meet the children’s needs and meet higher and higher standards. Do away with the word FREE and let us charge a top up, Just £1..00 extra per hour would give me sufficent money to provide a lot more for my children and even perhaps pay my staff a decent living wage.
