Nurseries offering the 30hrs will limit the free places and charge parents for extra
Many nurseries from September have decided to opt out on offering the extended hours as it is just not financially viable. For nurseries who have decided to offer the 30hrs hours they have limited the free places and will be charging parents for extras just as meals and additional activities. As many nurseries will not be offering children the extended hours, this leaves many parents unable to benefit from their funded entitlement, however, to increase the free hours from 15 to 30 is just not an option for many childcare settings
According to research from the NDNA, it shows that one in five nurseries were not planning to offer 30hrs because of them not being able to afford it. A survey showed that 15 per cent of nurseries who responded will not be offering the additional hours, this is due to the low amount of funding being given to nurseries. Of the remaining nurseries who will be offering the hours, they will only be offering the free places if they charge parents for extras.

We are offering the 30 hours, either 30 hours term time only or 22 hours a week over 50 weeks. We charge for lunch or they can bring a packed lunch. We charge for Forest School and trips we make but otherwise snacks are included. Time will tell if we need to charge for anything extra. otherwise.
We are offering 30 hours as a stretched offer over 47 weeks and we won’t be charging our parents anything extra. We are a a community interest company open 47 weeks per year.
