Nursery workers will face difficulties if tax credits are cut

Nursery nurses will be amongst some of the people who will lose a huge amount of money if the tax credits cuts go ahead. The Children’s Charities have been working hard to push the delay to cut tax credits. 

Peers have voted to have the government tax credit cuts put on hold; this is because government haven’t responded to an analysis showing exactly how many families will be affected and the figures.

There was also a vote to look at government providing some sort of three year compensation to low income families and individuals who are currently receiving tax credits 

The Children’s Society and Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) are backing the lord’s decisions of putting these changes on hold. 

Figures showing what families will lose;

Families claiming tax credits will see a drop from £16,105 to £12,125 a year; this is a substantial amount for families who are already facing difficulties.

Nursery Nurses will fall in the category of people being affected. Families will lose £1,788 a year, these calculations are based on solo earners working full time either single parents or a sole earner in a couple family

A spokesperson for the Child Poverty Action Group said, ‘We hope ministers take a deep breath and admit that these cuts will pull the rug from under the feet of working families. Ministers should now bring forward new measures to help working families, investing in tax credits not cutting them.

These cuts will deeply affect hard working parentes who are working long hours to earn a living to provide for their families. For those families who are already struggling they are going to fear for the changes.

The Prime Minister has gone against his decision to not cut tax credits that was promised in the run up to the election. The tax credit cuts will affect children’s lives and this decision will not help parents getting back into work as where is the incentive?
