Promoting British Values
The Sunshine Day Nursery at Seascape Children’s Centre really embraced tonights CPD on Promoting British Values. The Senior leadership were given a brief on bringing some of their childhood into the session and looking back on what makes us british. They needed to bring an English homemade food, A hymn, A traditional nursery rhyme, A game from their childhood and to talk about something from history that makes us British.
We listened as they spoke about St George, Remembrance Day, Guy Fawkes, Durham Miners Gala and how most traditional nursery rhymes have an origin e.g. Ring a roses was about the plague. We enjoyed afternoon tea, retro sweets and pop, finely tuned our voices to sing hymns and traditional nursery rhymes, then released the inner child by playing chuck stones, tidily winks, with diablos and yo-yo’s.
We had a group discussion about our outstanding practice and how everyday we embrace British values by teaching our children good manners, respect, rules and embrace our local community. Tonight re-enforced what we do each day
