10 ways to recycle an old cable drum
Have you ever wondered what to use an old cable drum for? These recyclable resources can be a great addition to your environment and can be used for so many different things. To obtain some of these cable drums why not contact your local DIY shop to see if they have any they do not need.
As a cable drum has a flat surface this mean the opportunities are endless and practitioners can work their magic on turning the drum into something spectacular.
Here are a few suggestions as to what you can use your cable drum for;
- Fairy Garden – Why not turn a cable drum into a fairy garden and add some fairy garden resources.
- Farmyard – Add some artificial grass to the top of the drum and create a farmyard scene using farm animals and a farm building.
- Car track – Why not paint a road onto the cable drum and position cars around the track.Small world play surfaces – Place artificial grass on top of the cable drum and on the bottom rim of the drum. This surface can be used to create a jungle area, or a mini beast area or whatever the children want it to be.
- Chalk table – Paint the top of the cable drum using chalk paint to make a chalk table for the children to mark make on.
- Mud Kitchen Table- Use the drum as a table in your mud kitchen area.
- Musical Instrument table – Drill holes around the edges of the top of the drum and attach a piece of string to items such as saucepans utensils, pots and pans etc and turn your drum into a musical instrument table.
- Role play table – Use the cable drum as a role play table in your home corner, place and a table cloth over the top and children will love using this as a picnic table.
- Painting table – Why not turn a cable drum into a painting table, ask your DIY man to make some holes in the drum towards the middle for children to put their paint pots in.
- Using cable drums to construct with – Collect a few cable drums and add them to your construct area along with planks of wood, guttering, crates, tyres etc and let the children use their imagination to build. An addition to this would be to add large trucks so the children can use these in their play, pushing them along the planks and up the ramps.
