What you should try and do everyday to become an effective leader
Here are a few pointers to help you, try and do these daily
1.Turn up to your office at the same time-
- This may sound silly but it gives an indication to others when you are in and shows you are a consistent leader. Your daily presence will develop into trust and this will develop great relationships between all parties.
2. Speak to people how you would like to be spoken to.
- Talk to your team regular ask them questions about what they did over the weekend. These conversations will help build the foundations for a strong working relationship. Along the way you are building trust within in your team, so when the time comes for effective teamwork you can rely on your already committed workforce.
3. Resolve conflict straightaway.
As an employer it is your duty to handle conflict fairly and straightaway, it is always best to deal with this as soon as the matter is brought to your attention. If conflict isn’t dealt with it can lead to trust issues being damaged as employees will lose faith in their manager.
4. Allow staff the opportunities to make decisions-
- It is your responsibility to source the appropriate staff, and guide them through the processes of understanding the end goal.
5.Understanding the end goal
- The end goal is always the same, ensure your team knows exactly what needs to happen. Ask yourself questions about whether employees are doing the right things, are objectives being met to achieve the end goal.
6. Positive work environment
- Check out the atmosphere in the working environment, there is nothing worse than tension being in the air. If there is tension this needs to be resolved to create a positive working environment.
7.Provide feedback
Always give feedback whether this is constructive or positive, some employees never get praise, by someone noticing and saying something it will give the employee a boast and will lead to more productive results.
8.Show your face
Walk around your working environment, show your presence and talk to your team. This is a great opportunity to give feedback and develop strong working relationships.
