A rise in the amount of childcare providers rated good or outstanding

A further rise in the number of  childcare providers rated Good or Outstanding

With around 93 percent of childcare providers being graded Good or Outstanding by Ofsted, these figures show there has been a rise in the number of providers being awarded these grades. Childcare providers on non-domestic premises being awarded good or outstanding have remained at 95% since August 2016. Childminders being graded these grades has risen by 2 percent.

Statistics from Ofsted show there has been a decrease in childminder places;
There were 44,000 childminders registered with Ofsted as at 31 December 2016, down 700 from 31 August 2016. Overall, childminder numbers have fallen by 23% since 31 August 2012. The number of non-domestic providers has remained stable at 26,900 over the last four months, but is down 3% since 31 August 2012.

There has however been a slight increase in childcare places available, how long this will last for is for debate!  With the introduction of the 30hrs free childcare scheme, some providers are opting out on offering this scheme; therefore this will reduce the number of childcare places available.

It is encouraging to see that childcare providers are still providing high quality and education whilst having to deal with the added pressures regarding the lack of funding.

As at 31 December 2016, the proportion of all providers (EYR) judged good or outstanding was at its highest ever in all regions. The proportion was highest in the South West (95%) and lowest in London (90%).

Figures released show that the number of providers being graded good or outstanding in on the rise, with some providers maintaining their grade and others being upgraded.  It is imperative children have access to high-quality care and education and gain vital skills that will help them later on in life
