Funding figures released will mean Birmingham nurseries will lose out
With funding figures released by the Department for Education, Birmingham nurseries are set to lose out. The changes to the Early Years Funding Formula will mean that funding given to Birmingham nurseries will be reduced further. This may cause closure for some providers.
Funding allocation to Birmingham nurseries shows that the amount per head is going to drop by 5%. For many providers, the argument is that by reducing funding this is not only going to affect providers but also the children. The gap in attainment levels will grow further apart, with more children starting school behind in their development.
Without adequate funding, many nurseries are facing the possibility of closure and again it will be the children who suffer.
What are people’s views on the changes to the Funding Formula?
