Children to suffer after loss of influential children’s charity
The charity announced on the 31st August that due to financial difficulties it could no longer support the children receiving care at their various facilities. The charity ran children’s centres, nursery settings and short breaks for families with disabled children.
The charity was forced to go into administration after it struggled to raise enough funds to maintain the support it was offering. Not only did they struggle with fundraising but also lost crucial contracts which were offering huge support to the charity.
As well as consequences held for the children who received support from the setting, there are also implications for those who worked for the charity. Many of the staff who used to work for the charity are now facing redundancies with some of the childcare sites being lost completely.
Fortunately, the damage to the communities, families and staff who are supported by the charity has been limited by the services they offer being passed over to other children’s charities. This means thousands of children will still be able to benefit from the support and work offered through these various settings.
It is brilliant news that the work the charity has completed will not be totally lost but the fact they have gone into administration displays a clear warning about the vulnerability of charities currently and how so many great services could be lost if charities do not begin to receive the support they need to operate.
