Great EYFS activity to help develop children’s creativity
Supporting children’s creativity is not just about offering experiences such as painting or messy play it can also be about providing children with the resources to express themselves through dance and movement. In order to demonstrate good quality learning opportunities that help support children’s creativity, practitioners must provide a rich learning environment that has a balance of activities and experiences.
Encouraging children to develop their creativity skills can also develop many other areas of children’s development; it can develop their language skills whilst building on their self-esteem. Children relish in being praised for achievements and look to adults for that reassurance. Good quality communication between adult and child is important as this can provide children with the tools to extend their play.

Using a mirror and paint;
Resources;
- Large Mirror (safety mirror/acrylic)
- Different coloured paints
Method;
Place the mirror on a table or floor depending on the age and stage of the children and drizzle some paint over the mirrors. Sit back and watch the children mix the colours together and create their own masterpiece.
