Part time childcare fees cost twice as much as food and drink
With many childcare providers increasing fees where will this leave parents who are unable to pay these costs? There has also been an increase in childminder prices.
The Family and Childcare Trust are asking for more help to be done to ensure families are better off once childcare costs have been paid, and that there is further support for parent accessing childcare for children with SEND.
The 30hrs free childcare scheme which is being rolled out this September is aimed at helping working parents. The scheme is to help parents return to work and help with childcare costs, giving children 30hrs of free childcare per week, however, for childcare providers, this is not 30hrs free childcare as it is not free at the point of delivery.
With the promise of the 30hrs free childcare scheme to be available from this September, many areas are seeing a shortage of childcare places available. This is due to providers opting out on offering the scheme as the proposed funding amounts will not secure sustainability for providers.
