Save The Children charity campaign for further investment in Early Education
Many five-year-olds in Stretford and Urmston are not meeting the levels expected. Also over 50% of children who attend an independent nursery in Stretford and Urmston don’t receive support from a qualified Early Years Teacher.
According to Save The Children report ‘Untapped Potential’ evidence shows that having qualified staff within a nursery has a huge impact on children’s development.
With the demand for more free childcare places, emphasis should be on ensuring and supporting childcare settings in being able to recruit qualified staff to offer the demand for further childcare. Employing qualified staff especially Early Years Teachers can be extremely expensive for childcare settings.
Further help from Government is needed to support nurseries in being about to recruit Early Years Teachers.
