Arrival of an Ofsted Inspector
For many people the thought of an Ofsted inspector turning up can be a daunting thought, however if you know in your heart that you are doing the best you can do then the whole experience will be fine.
There are many tips that can help you be prepared, but on the day of your Ofsted inspection just carry on as normal. An Ofsted inspector would much rather see a normal nursery day.
From September 2015 childcare settings are now given notice of an inspection, many people have mixed views on this. Use this notice period to your advantage and support your team in the preparation for the inspection.
On the day of your Ofsted Inspection make sure you ask to see the inspector Id this is very important. Together you will decide upon the schedule of the day and a notice will be displayed to say an inspection is in process. One piece of advice is to talk confidently and be proud of your nursery.
There are many supporting documents available to help you prepare for your Ofsted Inspection, the new Common Inspection Framework explains how Ofsted will inspect the setting, therefore this is a good document to be familiar with.
Inspectors will also make graded judgements on the following areas using the four-point scale:
- effectiveness of leadership and management
- quality of teaching, learning and assessment
- personal development, behaviour and welfare
- outcomes for children and learners.
Here are a few top tips in helping you achieve that top grade in your Ofsted Inspection
