Instead of cutting inheritance tax more money is need to improve childcare
The suggestion of cutting inheritance tax has come under fire and it has been suggested that money should be pumped into improving childcare instead.
The promise to help families with tax-free childcare and extending the free entitlement is still being accused of being broken and now there are plans to help wealthiest families. People will have to sit back and wait to hear what is said in the budget.
David Cameron has admitted the reason why there has been a delay in the tax-free promise being agreed is due to a court case in which government lost with some providers.
Many people are arguing that plans to help the wealthiest families should be scraped and the money should be used to help fund better childcare. The money would be far better used to expand and improve the service offered to working parents.
The 30hrs free childcare is being piloted in areas from September 2016 to then be rolled out across all the other areas in September 2017. The amount funding being offered to nursery providers is causing some worry as many settings are unsure if they will able to offer the increase in hours. More money needs to be available in order for settings to offer high quality care.
Having high-quality childcare would lead to more parents returning to work, creating a more skilled workforce. Let’s not forget the children, this would create a solid foundation they deserve to help them reach their full potential before starting school
