Where was the mention of the early years funding in the Spring Budget?

Many people have criticised why the early years funding was not mentioned during the spring budget.  Chancellor Philip Hammond announced in his speech the tax free childcare scheme, saving families up to £2000 a year. He also went on to confirm that working parents with 3 and four years olds would be eligible for 30hrs free childcare from September. However, there was still no mention of the early yeas funding when this would have been an ideal time to talk about it. Childcare providers are disappointed and criticise the opportunity that was wasted. 

With the introduction of the 30hrs free childcare approaching very soon, lack of early years funding is causing childcare providers a sufficient amount of worry, even leading to some providers opting out of the scheme.  The 30hrs free childcare scheme is not free at the point of delivery, therefore instead of the government ignoring this fact, more needs to be done to help providers offer this scheme.

New Tax-Free Childcare Scheme

The new tax-free childcare will above government supporting parents with childcare costs. Existing childcare vouchers schemes will not be available to new joiners as the new tax-free childcare scheme will replace this. It is believed the new tax-free childcare scheme could save families up to £2000 per year. Parents must be working 16hrs or more and earn at least £115 a week. Famileis earning more than £100,000 will not be eligible.
