North Yorkshire County Council joins other early implements in offering 30hrs free childcare
North Yorkshire County Council will begin offering the 30hrs of free childcare earlier than expected. They will join the eight original councils to launch the Governments 30hrs free childcare scheme. Dorset, Leicestershire and Tower Hamlets are also joining the scheme early.
Each council with work closely with childcare providers to help begin offering the 30hrs free childcare, this will begin happening from April for all 3 and four-year-olds.
The offering of the 30hrs free childcare will help remove barriers for parents, enabling them to return to work or increase their working hours.
Back in September 2016, the scheme began being piloted in areas; the early implementer programme is on track to provide 5,000 free places.
Councils that are joining the scheme will be able to test specific elements of the childcare offer, such levels of deprivation, they will also work closely with existing early implementer councils.
