Parents being charged to watch Nativity plays Kelly 8 years ago Charging parents to watch their child’s Nativity play Recently in the news a primary school is charging parents £1 to watch their child’s nativity play, this has caused a huge response from parents, leading to some teachers suffering verbal abuse. Recently other parents have been informed that they will have to buy tickets to watch their child’s nativity play, with some parents being told tickets will cost between £1 and £3.50. Seeing parents/carers faces in the audience is a huge thing for children, it gives them reassurance and confidence. As not all parents will be able to afford to buy tickets, this could both upset parents and children. Yes, you could argue it only costs a pound, but with families that have more than one child, this is double the expense. Many parents have voiced their opinion on having to pay to see their child in their Nativity play, however, for schools, this is an opportunity to be able to invest money into buying further resources that will help improve children’s development. With many schools budget being cut other ways of investing money into the school is being looked into. Do you agree or disagree that parents should be charged to watch their child’s nativity play as we are now living in the modern world?
