Rise to Ofsted fees for childcare providers

The cost of Ofsted fees are on the up

Did you know that Ofsted fees are to rise? Childcare providers are to be notified of the government’s plans to rise Ofsted fees.

This many mean that childcare providers such as childminders may see the biggest increase. It has been said that Ofsted fees for both nurseries and childminders haven’t seen a rise since 2010.

Childcare provider’s today pay between £35 and £220. The rise in fees will not start until April 2017 this has been confirmed by the Department for Education.

The letters received by childcare providers explains the reasons behind the increase and that there is every intention that this will be phased in with plenty of advance notice.

For those childcare providers who have over the years acquired new settings will see a significant increase in their payments to Ofsted.

The question is where will this extra money be going, will it be re invested back into providing a high quality provision for children and a highly qualified workforce or will it be used elsewhere.
