Q – “How many key children do people have? What’s the most you are allowed?”

A – “I work in a room for 2-3 years olds. Myself (second in charge) and a level 2 member of staff have 8 key children each. The room leader has three and another level three qualified has three…”
A – “Had 8 but due to changes there is only now 2 of us keyworking all 38 children & due to rise to 45 by Easter! We do get 2.5hrs a week in work time to do planning, prep & assessments.”

A – “What level of paperwork or online journal do you do with that amount of key children how much extra time do you get per child”

A – “I think that this is a good argument forn using a childminder, particularly with under threes. Childminders have three children at a time, could be as many six children to keep records for if you have part timers….”

I get confused now I think the ratio is 1 adult for 6 babies and 1 adult for 4 children aged 2-3 year and 1 adult fo 8 children for 4 year is this correct?
